Dr. Donna Powell’s was very
informative when talking about naturopathy with her recently. I found
naturopathy to be very interesting, yet scarily eye opening. I understand that
not all labels for foods, medicines, vaccinations, and other substances that we
put in our bodies are true; but it is appalling to me that I had not known
about this secret for many years. People put trust in the medical system, while
behind closed doors the pharmaceutical companies are deciding what is put into
vaccinations and medicines. Due to the desire for a BIG paycheck, the contents
of substances entering our beautiful bodies are being concealed by those making
all of the money. Naturopathy made me aware of alternative options for taking
care of myself, and being able to trust certain labels or simply filling my
body with natural substances.
Powell talked about the “four parts of our being”, with
each quadrant standing for mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional
well-being. If each part is equal then one’s being is satisfied; although if
not each quadrant is equal, then some are suppressed and some are over-bearing.
It is best when all are in balance, but it is not necessarily bad when out of
balance. For example, if someone’s emotional quadrant was over-bearing, a
naturopathic doctor would be able to identify this and find the cause of it so
they could help. I had not thought about my physical, emotional, mental, and
spiritual well-being in this way; now that I have, it has greatly changed my
perspective on the way that I take care of myself. Seeing a naturopathic doctor
would be very helpful to learn about the balance of one’s body and certain
natural supplements or foods that would be good for their health.
We should all consider all parts of our beings and
respect them willfully. Ignoring the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual
aspects of human existence would be ignorant. Cherishing the life we have and
the power to heal that is within us and around us in nature is so imperative to
our existence on Earth. Things such as naturopathy should be taught at young
ages to encourage people to care for their bodies rather than chalking our
immune system full of pharmaceuticals. Ponder the ways in which North American
culture strays from caring for ourselves in natural ways that include the
physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.
